Resources

Here you will find interesting articles, exercises, websites, and music for you to browse, as well as recommendations for books, accessories and sheet music to buy. Most of these resources are available elsewhere online, just borrowed by us (we aim to credit wherever we can).

If you have anything to add and share - please get in touch!

Huge thanks to eFlute Guest Artist Gaspar Hoyos for sharing this with us!

We are sure you are already familiar with the amazing website flutetunes.com - but we couldn’t not include it on this page! Click on the link below to browse:

Another good resource of free sheet music is IMSLP: www.imslp.org

We are reluctant to recommend IMSLP too highly because there are often mistakes in the parts, it can be difficult/unfair to give pianists handfuls of loose pages, and playing from copies like this can even result in disqualification if used in exams or competitions!

Plus, having a ‘real’ copy is always much nicer, and we should support publishers and music shops wherever we can! But it can be useful if using an iPad and having a try-before-you-buy :)

This fantastic photo recently did the rounds on social media…

Definitely worth another look and remembering we come in all different shapes and sizes!

Download this quick guide to good posture - taken from the fantastic ‘Illustrated Fluteplaying (3rd Edition)’ by Robin Soldan and Jeanie Mellersh

We’d thoroughly recommend buying the book, it’s fantastic!

Bapam (British Association for Performing Arts Medicine) is a fantastic resource for musician’s health. There’s a lot to explore on their website: www.bapam.org.uk

Click the link below for their warm-up exercises. We’d suggest printing these pages out and doing them every day!

We’d highly recommend purchasing this fantastic compendium by Michel Debost. It covers essential topics such as breathing, articulation, and tone, as well as exploring more quirky aspects of flute playing.

Another book recommendation!!
